Museum International Day

At the invitation of the Vila Nova de Famalicão Museum Network, the Quarteto Euterpe performed on 15 May 2021 at the Fundação Castro Alves in Bairro, on the occasion of International Museum Day. The concert formed part of the annual celebrations marking the role of museums as spaces of culture, memory and community.

The programme brought together Haydn’s Quartet Op. 76 No. 2 “The Fifths” and Mendelssohn’s Quartet Op. 13 No. 2 — two works separated by decades but sharing an intense relationship with expressivity and formal construction in string quartet writing. The Fundação Castro Alves, a significant cultural space in the municipality, hosted one of the quartet’s earliest concerts following its founding.
