At the invitation of Famart, the Quarteto Euterpe performed on 17 July 2021 at Hotel Cidnay in Santo Tirso, as part of its summer concert series. The programme brought together two works representing distinct and complementary moments in the classical string quartet repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haydn’s Quartet Op. 76 No. 2 “The Fifths”, named after the descending fifth motif that opens and pervades the first movement, is one of the most expressive and harmonically daring works of the composer’s late output \u2014 a fully mature Haydn pushing the boundaries of form with a freedom that anticipates the following century.
