Desvendando um Norte Erudito · Cicle III · 2nd Concert

The final concert of Desvendando um Norte Erudito took place on 27 May 2022 at the Sala dos Arcos of the Museu Pio XII in Braga — one of the most distinguished spaces in the city’s historic centre, whose architecture and memory gave the occasion a sense of closure particularly fitting for the spirit of the project.

The programme repeated that of the previous concert, maintaining the coherence of the cycle: Smetana’s Quartet No. 1, a work of great emotional intensity rooted in autobiography; Vira by Sara Marita, a work commissioned by the Quarteto Euterpe as part of this project, engaging with the Portuguese popular musical tradition through a contemporary language; and Villa-Lobos’s Quartet No. 1, which brought the project to a close with an affirmation of the diversity of musical identities that had run through it from the first concert in Chaves.
