Desvendando um Norte Erudito · Cicle II · 2nd Concert

The second concert of the second cycle of Desvendando um Norte Erudito took place on 25 April 2022 at the Museu do Douro in Peso da Régua — a space dedicated to the history and culture of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, whose deeply rooted territorial identity gave the concert a framework of particular resonance.

The programme maintained the coherence of the cycle: Haydn’s Quartet Op. 76 No. 2 “The Fifths”, Hesitações de Murmúrios by Ema Ferreira — a work commissioned by the Quarteto Euterpe as part of this project — and Joly Braga Santos’s Quartet No. 1 Op. 4, a work that reaffirms the presence of Portuguese music in the chamber repertoire and found in the Museu do Douro a particularly fitting context for its territorial and cultural dimension.
